Senior Project Manager

ABB is seeking a Senior R&D Project Manager for its Plainville, Connecticut location. This role is responsible for developing or creating products, systems, services or technologies for ABB s Business Units by leading and managing the execution of one or more complex R&D projects or a program to meet project targets. Coordinate work of multi-location and cross-functional project team/s. Lead in partnership with business managers, steering groups, product management and external parties and ensure value creation. Tasks: Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: o Project leadership - Leads and manages complex projects and coordinates work of multi-location and cross-functional project team/s. Motivates and monitors internal and/or external resources to accomplish all tasks and milestones. o Project and program management - Manages the cost, schedule and performance objectives of the projects within a program. Manages interdependencies between projects in order to realize specified benefits. Ensures appropriate requirements within a program by partnering with relevant business unit/s or other customers. Develops business case. o Value management - Ensures understanding of customer value in the projects and acts to ensure customer satisfaction and manage expectations. Take into consideration requirements and demands coming from customers and from internally within ABB. o Project execution and control - Ensures projects follow sound methodology and execution practices in accordance with standard ABB internal directives and procedures as well as external standards etc. that influence activities and targets. Effectively organizes monitors and controls activities to ensure achievement of planned stage-gates and efficient utilization of available resources. Monitors and controls program cost and financials. Reports to and take directives from steering committee. Working and driving resources from Technology center with close collaboration with R&D Manager. o Manage uncertainties and risks - Ensures transparency around change requests, unforeseen results/events and identified risks and ensures that they are properly managed and communicated. Ensures that all opportunities are captured and acted upon. o Mentoring and coaching - Coaches and mentors R&D Project Managers and supports professional development and talent pipeline. Shares lessons learned. o Stakeholder relations - Serves as the key contact for stakeholders, and an escalation point for program/project issues. Effectively communicates appropriate information to stakeholders in a timely manner and to achieve desired understanding and support. o Collaboration - Leads in partnership with business managers, steering committees, product management, other internal functions and external parties. Coordinates activities with product and business management. o Projects, processes and tools -Initiates the development of and implements project management requirements, processes, methods, techniques, tools, handbooks and guidelines. o Networking - Develops, manages and expands relationships with stakeholders, internal functions, Corporate Research Centers and external relevant parties (e.g. customers, academia). Provides proposals for possible partnerships. Requirements: Basic Qualifications: o Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and previous experience in project engineering or project management. Preferred Qualifications: o Good understanding of NEMA LV Residential Portfolio (Load Center & Resi Breakers) o Proven record of successful management of large and complex projects o Strong Leadership skills o Have cultural sensitivity to work across geographic borders o Understanding of ANSI, NEMA, IEEE and UL standards o Familiar with development models and processes o Strong Project Management background o Excellent communication & negotiation skills o Strategic orientation and thinking o Experience in leading development groups and large development programs Publication ID:US67014437_E6_2

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
